In Sai Toke Village of Rakhine State, Ma Khin Saw works odd jobs like rearing pigs, tailoring and selling fuel, while her husband works as a fisherman. The busy schedule to keep themselves financially afloat takes quality time away from their child. What the family needed was a little bit of help to pushstart themselves into a better position.

Myanmar discharges another 51 children and young people recruited as children from the Myanmar Armed Forces

“I first learnt that I had the right to be released from the military when I was riding on the back of a truck and saw a billboard by the government and several NGOs that children should not be soldiers,” said Zaw Htun (not his real name). 

“There was also a hotline on the billboard. As I was recruited as a child, I called the hotline and spoke to representatives from World Vision. They told me that they would process the paperwork so that I may be released.”
